General business news

HERISAU. HUBER+SUHNER has decided to move out of its FAKRA radio frequency connectors business for the automotive industry, and has therefore sold this activity to Rosenberger. Rosenberger will take over equipment and patents from HUBER+SUHNER for manufacturing this product line, which generated revenues in the single-digit million range last year. This move will have no effect on staffing at HUBER+SUHNER. The contract was signed yesterday, 7th July, and Rosenberger will take over the business with effect from 1st August 2010. The parties have agreed that the sale price will not be made public.
With this step, HUBER+SUHNER, the Swiss specialist for electrical and optical connectivity solutions, tightens its focus on speciality cables and cable systems for high-end applications in the automotive industry, in particular also for hybrid and electric vehicles. The company achieves around 5 per cent of its Group sales from the automotive market and sees significant potential growth in this area in the future.

Rosenberger is well-regarded as one of the internationally leading companies in the field of radio frequency and fiber optic connectors, and in the last few years has grown its automotive industry product line into its top-selling business division. For Rosenberger, the integration of the FAKRA line from HUBER+SUHNER represents an increase in know-how and production capacity, contributing to further expansion of its product lines and market access in this area. This step will also ensure continuity for customers and suppliers. Both companies agree that the future potential for FAKRA radio frequency connectors is more favourable with Rosenberger.
